R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Juan Miguel Arredondo has greatly benefited his |
|
|
community through his outstanding service as a member of the San |
|
|
Marcos Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Arredondo has represented District One on the |
|
|
school board since May 2015, and he is one of the first LGBTQ |
|
|
elected officials in Hays County; over the course of his tenure on |
|
|
the board, he has played an instrumental role in securing higher |
|
|
wages for full-time school employees, improving benefits for |
|
|
teachers, and implementing free breakfast and lunch programs for |
|
|
all students; he has also worked tirelessly to ensure that the |
|
|
district's schools foster learning environments in which students |
|
|
can excel academically; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native of San Marcos, Mr. Arredondo has further |
|
|
distinguished himself through his involvement with United Way of |
|
|
Hays and Caldwell Counties as well as Centro Cultural Hispano de San |
|
|
Marcos; in addition, he serves as chief of staff in the office of |
|
|
State Representative Erin Zwiener, and he has demonstrated an |
|
|
outstanding commitment to supporting constituents and calling |
|
|
attention to the needs of his fellow Texans; he holds a bachelor's |
|
|
degree in public administration from Texas State University; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Miguel Arredondo's dedication and visionary |
|
|
leadership have made him a valued member of the San Marcos CISD |
|
|
school board, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his |
|
|
significant contributions to his community; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commend Juan Miguel Arredondo for his service to |
|
|
the San Marcos CISD Board of Trustees and extend to him sincere best |
|
|
wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Arredondo as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
