R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Larrian Menifee of Ball High School in Galveston has
  been nominated for the 2024 Grammy Music Educator Award; and
         WHEREAS, This annual honor recognizes current full-time
  educators who make significant and lasting contributions to the
  field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to
  maintaining music education in schools; winners receive a $10,000
  honorarium and a matching grant for their school music program;
  Mr. Menifee is one of 200 quarterfinalists from across the nation
  nominated for the 2024 award; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Galveston and an alumnus of Ball High,
  Mr. Menifee is currently in his second year as director of the
  school's choir program; he has created a five-year strategic plan
  that includes a new mission statement, measurable goals, community
  initiatives, program culture, and artistic excellence expectations
  for the students; he also added specific voice classes for
  beginner-grade students as well as an audition-based advanced class
  called "Golden Voices"; and
         WHEREAS, Under his leadership, enrollment for the choral
  program has grown from 11 students to 62, and there has been an
  increase in local performance opportunities and sponsorships
  funding student travel opportunities as well; the choir performed
  in Mexico last January and is scheduled to sing in New York City
  next year; in addition to directing the choir, Mr. Menifee coaches
  the school's volleyball team; and
         WHEREAS, Larrian Menifee exemplifies the passion,
  determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our
  best teachers, and he is indeed a deserving nominee for this
  prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Larrian Menifee on his nomination
  for the 2024 Grammy Music Educator Award and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Menifee as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
