R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Richard Max Callahan of Canton is achieving his goal |
|
of visiting all 63 U.S. national parks by traveling to the last park |
|
on his list, National Park of American Samoa, on May 25, 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Canton, Max Callahan has |
|
enjoyed experiencing the many natural wonders of regions across the |
|
United States, and some of his favorite national parks include |
|
Yosemite, Zion, Glacier, and Acadia; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Callahan is a former educator and administrator |
|
for the Canton Independent School District, where he worked as a |
|
social studies and history teacher at Canton Junior High School for |
|
many years; he also served as principal of Canton Junior High from |
|
1985 to 2000, and he led Canton High School from 2000 to 2008 and |
|
again in fall 2013; he holds bachelor's and master's degrees from |
|
East Texas State University; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Callahan benefits from the |
|
love and support of his wife, Marilyn, and he takes great pride in |
|
his daughters, Lauren and Erin, and grandsons, Miles and Owen; and |
|
WHEREAS, The establishment and preservation of the U.S. |
|
national parks have allowed generations of Americans to explore and |
|
appreciate the natural splendor of our country, and Max Callahan is |
|
to be commended for the patriotism and dedication he has |
|
demonstrated in taking full advantage of all that these treasured |
|
landmarks have to offer; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Richard Max Callahan on achieving |
|
his goal of visiting all 63 U.S. national parks and extend to him |
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Callahan as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
