R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The 50th annual Strawberry Festival is taking place |
|
|
in Pasadena on May 18 through 21, 2023; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, First held as a one-time celebration on a football |
|
|
practice field, the Pasadena Strawberry Festival has grown to |
|
|
become one of the largest annual events in the area, attracting more |
|
|
than 50,000 visitors each year; the festival celebrates the city's |
|
|
agricultural history and a time when it was known as the Strawberry |
|
|
Capital of the South; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This much-anticipated event features a variety of |
|
|
activities and attractions, including a barbecue cook-off, |
|
|
helicopter rides, a carnival, parades, and a mud volleyball |
|
|
tournament; in addition, guests can enjoy live music and other |
|
|
performances; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Proceeds from the festival support local nonprofit |
|
|
organizations and provide scholarships for graduates of area high |
|
|
schools; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A fun occasion for all ages, the Pasadena Strawberry |
|
|
Festival is a beloved community tradition, and it promises to be a |
|
|
source of fond memories for all those in attendance; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th annual Strawberry Festival |
|
|
in Pasadena and extend to the organizers and attendees sincere best |
|
|
wishes for a successful and enjoyable event. |
