R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Gruver High School girls' cross country team |
|
proved itself one of the finest in Texas with its exceptional |
|
performance at the 2022 University Interscholastic League Cross |
|
Country State Championships; and |
|
WHEREAS, Following a strong showing at the district meet, |
|
where they won the title, the Lady Hounds placed second at |
|
regionals, with seven runners qualifying for state; on November 4, |
|
the Gruver athletes joined the other top cross country squads in |
|
Texas at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock to contend for the |
|
championship; entering the event ranked No. 5 in Class 2A, the Lady |
|
Hounds rose to the occasion and claimed the silver medal in the team |
|
competition with a cumulative place score of 139; and |
|
WHEREAS, Gruver was paced by Brenna Butler, who recorded a |
|
top-20 finish with a time of 13 minutes, 19.6 seconds, on the |
|
two-mile course; she was followed by Brianna Martinez, who crossed |
|
the line in 13:52.0, Makenlei Vasquez, who finished in 13:52.4, and |
|
Tyerin Aranda, who clocked in at 14:05.6; rounding out the field for |
|
the Lady Hounds were Presley East at 14:08.0, Ilana Rodriguez at |
|
14:45.2, and Ella Babbs at 15:20.7; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Gruver Lady Hounds have distinguished |
|
themselves through their skill, hard work, and enduring commitment |
|
to excellence, and they are a source of tremendous pride to their |
|
classmates and their many supporters in the community; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Gruver High School girls' cross |
|
country team on winning the silver medal in the 2A competition at |
|
the 2022 UIL Cross Country State Championships and extend to the |
|
team's athletes, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the Lady Hounds as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
