R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of Dr. Arnold J. Morris Jr. of Arlington on April 11, 2023, |
|
at the age of 77; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Arnold Morris Sr. and Evelyn Morris, |
|
A. J. Morris was born in Archer City on November 12, 1945, and he |
|
grew up with the companionship of two siblings, Burk and Julie; he |
|
graduated from Archer City High School in 1964 and went on to attend |
|
The University of Texas at Austin before enlisting in the U.S. Army |
|
during the Vietnam War; over the course of his six years of service, |
|
he earned the rank of captain and received a number of military |
|
honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Bronze |
|
Star Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Vietnam |
|
Service Medal; and |
|
WHEREAS, Following his return to civilian life, Dr. Morris |
|
earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Health |
|
Science Center at San Antonio and subsequently embarked on a |
|
rewarding career as a physician that spanned four decades, during |
|
which he helped countless patients through his skilled and |
|
compassionate care; active in his community, he was a member of |
|
American Legion Post No. 198 and Archer Masonic Lodge No. 708; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. Morris enjoyed the love |
|
and support of his wife, Deborah, and he took great pride in his two |
|
sons, Arnold J. and John; with the passing years, he had the |
|
privilege of seeing his family grow to include three grandchildren, |
|
Archer, Jett, and Hattie; he was known for his love of animals and |
|
his dry sense of humor, and in his leisure time, he enjoyed keeping |
|
up with the news; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although A. J. Morris will be deeply missed, he has |
|
left his family and friends with a wealth of memories that they will |
|
forever treasure; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dr. Arnold J. Morris |
|
Jr. and extend heartfelt condolences to all who mourn his passing; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of |
|
A. J. Morris. |
