R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|
meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|
of Gilberta P. Gonzalez of Corpus Christi, who passed away on |
|
October 22, 2022, at the age of 95; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Demetrio and Amparo Padilla, the |
|
former Bertha Padilla was born on October 16, 1927, in Mercedes, and |
|
she grew up with the companionship of four siblings, Demetrio, |
|
Francisco, Carmen, and Amparito; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Gonzalez moved to Corpus Christi in 1959; she |
|
worked with her husband, Raul C. Gonzalez, for a number of years in |
|
their family business, and along the way, she continued her |
|
education, proudly earning her GED in 1981; a woman of strong faith, |
|
she demonstrated an unwavering commitment to prayer; she had a |
|
passion for singing that she discovered while attending church |
|
services during her youth, and she was also known for her love of |
|
cooking; and |
|
WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to her family, Mrs. Gonzalez took |
|
great pride in her children, Frank, Raul Jr., Demetrio, Bertha, |
|
Alicia, Abraham, Sylvia, Gloria, and Elias; as the years passed, |
|
she was blessed with 32 grandchildren, including Joshua and |
|
Michael, whom she raised from childhood, as well as 63 |
|
great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, Bertha Gonzalez brightened the world for all who |
|
knew her, and they will forever hold her close in their hearts; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Gilberta P. Gonzalez |
|
and extend heartfelt condolences to all those who mourn her |
|
passing; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bertha |
|
Gonzalez. |
