R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Nethupa Arachchi, a senior at Bellaire High School,
  recently completed five years of laboratory research at Rice
  University, and he is truly deserving of special recognition for
  this achievement; and
         WHEREAS, In 2018, the then-13-year-old student began a
  research project to develop a type of disinfectant that is less
  harmful to plants; he subsequently earned the chance to work with
  the Sri Lankan Institute of Nanotechnology to incorporate nano
  compounds into his experiment, and he and his fellow researchers
  then presented a proposal to the president of the material sciences
  and nanotech engineering faculty at Rice University, which invited
  him to continue his work at that institution; and
         WHEREAS, Through trial and error and many long hours spent at
  the lab at Rice University, Mr. Arachchi learned which variables to
  adjust to increase the accuracy of the experiment, and in so doing,
  he gained knowledge and skills that will serve him well in his
  future research endeavors; he was also able to experience working
  in collaboration with a research team, which greatly supported him
  in achieving his goals; after graduating from high school, he plans
  to continue his research as a student at Rowan University in New
  Jersey; and
         WHEREAS, Nethupa Arachchi has distinguished himself through
  his exceptional dedication to scientific inquiry, and this
  outstanding young Texan may indeed look forward to a future bright
  with promise; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Nethupa Arachchi for completing five years
  of laboratory research at Rice University and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Arachchi as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
