R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The boys' lacrosse team from Highland Park High
  School in Dallas furthered its tradition of excellence by winning
  the 2023 Texas High School Lacrosse League Class AA state
  championship; and
         WHEREAS, On their journey to the title, the Scots defeated
  Houston Memorial High School 13-6 in the regional round of the
  playoffs and then recorded a thrilling 11-10 victory over The
  Episcopal School of Dallas in the semifinals to punch their ticket
  to the championship game; and
         WHEREAS, On May 14, top-seeded Highland Park battled The
  Woodlands for the state crown; demonstrating tremendous resolve,
  the Scots erased an 8-5 deficit with a flurry of second half scoring
  to take a 10-9 lead; the players continued their offensive attack
  down the stretch, sealing the outcome with consecutive goals in the
  waning minutes; triumphing by the final score of 14-10, the Scots
  celebrated the program's 12th lacrosse state title, the most of any
  team in Texas, and finished the year with an outstanding 20-4
  record; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of the season, the Scots received
  valuable contributions from each member of the roster; these
  talented student-athletes benefited from the able direction of head
  coach Mike Pressler, who produced a state title in his inaugural
  year at the helm of the team; and
         WHEREAS, With their 2023 championship victory, the Highland
  Park Scots have burnished their reputation as a lacrosse
  powerhouse, and all those associated with the team may reflect with
  pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Highland Park High School boys'
  lacrosse team on winning the 2023 THSLL Class AA state championship
  and extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes
  for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Scots as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
