R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, María de la Paloma Villaseñor Vargas, the Mexican |
|
consul in Del Rio, is visiting the Texas Capitol on May 22, 2023, |
|
and this occasion provides a welcome opportunity to pay tribute to |
|
this honored guest; and |
|
WHEREAS, The consul in Del Rio since September 2020, |
|
Dr. Villaseñor Vargas previously served as the Mexican consul in |
|
Calgary, Canada, and she won three elections to the legislative |
|
assembly in Mexico, once at the state level and twice at the federal |
|
level; among her many accomplishments as a legislator is the |
|
unanimous approval of the general law for the care and protection of |
|
individuals with autism; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Villaseñor Vargas has represented Mexico at |
|
numerous international summits, and she has raised awareness of |
|
women's issues as president of the Mexican chapter of the |
|
International Women's Forum and as a delegate to the Global Summit |
|
of Women; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Mexico City, Dr. Villaseñor Vargas |
|
speaks fluent Spanish, English, French, and Italian; she holds a |
|
bachelor's degree in communications from the Universidad |
|
Intercontinental, a master's degree in applied public management |
|
from Tecnológico de Monterrey, and a doctorate in innovation and |
|
social responsibility from the Universidad Anáhuac México; she has |
|
also completed numerous public and business management programs; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, María Villaseñor Vargas has distinguished herself |
|
throughout her career in public service, and she is indeed |
|
deserving of recognition for her contributions as the Mexican |
|
consul in Del Rio; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend María de la Paloma Villaseñor Vargas for |
|
her service as the Mexican consul in Del Rio and extend to her |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success with her important work; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Dr. Villaseñor Vargas as an expression of high regard |
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
