R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort the |
|
family and friends of Ray Cox, who passed away on October 18, 2021; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Cox was a proud alumnus of Houston Baptist |
|
University, where he graduated with degrees in accounting and |
|
management in 1981; he went on to earn his doctor of jurisprudence |
|
degree from South Texas College of Law Houston in 1988, and he was |
|
admitted to the State Bar of Texas the following year; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 1994, Mr. Cox established the Cox Law Firm, and |
|
he also taught business law in the HBU master's degree program; |
|
actively involved with his alma mater, he served for a total of 20 |
|
years on the Houston Baptist University Board of Trustees, |
|
including two terms as its chair, and he was a member of the HBU |
|
Alumni Association Advisory Board as well; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Cox balanced his career with a rewarding home |
|
life as a servant of Christ with his wife, Dr. Barbara Taylor Cox, |
|
with whom he shared four decades of marriage, and he was a devoted |
|
father to their two sons, Tyler and Colton; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although Ray Cox will be deeply missed, those who |
|
were privileged to share in his love and friendship will forever |
|
remember him with admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ray Cox and extend |
|
sincere sympathy to all those who mourn his passing; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ray Cox. |
