R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The city of Fort Worth lost a beloved community |
|
leader with the passing of Daniel M. Jensen on December 5, 2021, at |
|
the age of 66; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Elwood and Elaine Jensen, Danny Jensen |
|
was born on July 24, 1955, and he grew up with the companionship of |
|
his brother, David; he graduated from Alamo Heights High School in |
|
San Antonio in 1973, and he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from |
|
Texas Tech University as well as a master's degree from Texas |
|
Christian University; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Jensen began his career with the Texas College |
|
of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health |
|
Science Center at Fort Worth in 1984, and he initially served as |
|
director of development and executive director of the foundation; |
|
in 1990, he became the vice president for governmental affairs for |
|
HSC, and he was later appointed the associate vice chancellor for |
|
governmental relations; over the course of his nearly four decades |
|
of service, he spearheaded legislative strategy that was central to |
|
the growth of a significantly larger and more diverse HSC; he played |
|
an instrumental role in gaining support for a number of new |
|
facilities on campus and for the establishment of the Graduate |
|
School of Biomedical Sciences, the School of Public Health, the |
|
School of Health Professions, and the UNT System College of |
|
Pharmacy; he collaborated with local, state, and federal officials |
|
as well as with other community leaders to advance HSC, the City of |
|
Fort Worth, and higher education in Texas; as part of HSC's 50th |
|
Anniversary, he was designated as one of the school's "50 Heroes"; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Jensen married Lynette Walker in 1983, and they |
|
were blessed with two children, Dane and Abigail; known for his |
|
jovial personality and big heart, he was a kind and caring father as |
|
well as a beloved friend, and he never missed an opportunity to |
|
express his gratitude to those who shared in his life; during his |
|
leisure hours, he enjoyed playing golf; and |
|
WHEREAS, Danny Jensen brightened the world for all who knew |
|
him with his wit, charm, and outgoing personality, and he left |
|
behind a legacy of service that his loved ones can remember with |
|
pride; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Daniel M. Jensen and |
|
extend sincere condolences to his family and friends; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Danny |
|
Jensen. |
