R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Houston PetSet is a nonprofit organization that has |
|
worked for two decades to improve the lives of all animals in the |
|
Greater Houston area; and |
|
WHEREAS, Houston PetSet seeks to end animal homelessness |
|
through increased adoptions and to protect vulnerable animals |
|
through programs that are focused on long-term health; the |
|
organization is dedicated to creating a better world where every |
|
animal is valued and has a loving forever home, and it is helping to |
|
foster a sense of community responsibility and mutual support in |
|
achieving that worthy goal; and |
|
WHEREAS, Animal welfare is an essential component of building |
|
healthy and sustainable communities, and Houston PetSet hosts |
|
adoption events with the goal of giving residents an opportunity to |
|
provide permanent homes for animals in need; in addition to |
|
facilitating adoptions, the organization sponsors a program to |
|
transport homeless animals to the Midwest, where they may have a |
|
better chance of being adopted; and |
|
WHEREAS, Houston PetSet serves area pet owners by uniting the |
|
animal welfare community to fund education and rescue initiatives |
|
as well as spay, neuter, and microchip services; the organization |
|
also offers free pet boarding for domestic violence survivors who |
|
are staying at local shelters; and |
|
WHEREAS, By serving as a lifeline to animals in need, Houston |
|
PetSet has made a meaningful difference in the community, and it is |
|
a pleasure to recognize this truly commendable organization; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Houston PetSet for its work to end the |
|
crisis of animal homelessness and animal cruelty in the Greater |
|
Houston area and extend to all those associated with the |
|
organization sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Houston PetSet as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
