R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Viva Selena Marie Lopez is concluding her tenure on |
|
|
the Venom Hype Squad after dancing with the group for one final |
|
|
season; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Venom Hype Squad is the official dance team for |
|
|
the RGV Vipers, an NBA G League team affiliated with the Houston |
|
|
Rockets; Viva Lopez, who was born with Down syndrome, joined the |
|
|
squad four years ago and has since entertained countless spectators |
|
|
with her impressive dance moves and spunky personality; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Active in the Rio Grande Valley community, Ms. Lopez |
|
|
has distinguished herself through her philanthropic work and her |
|
|
efforts to raise awareness about Down syndrome; in 2020, she was one |
|
|
of five Valley residents selected to have their photos shown in a |
|
|
video presentation for the 25th annual New York City Buddy Walk's |
|
|
virtual celebration kicking off Down Syndrome Awareness Month; in |
|
|
all her endeavors, she enjoys the love and support of her mother, |
|
|
Mary Jane Lopez; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Viva Lopez has inspired everyone around her with her |
|
|
talent, hard work, and commitment to excellence, and she may indeed |
|
|
take pride in her many accomplishments as she embarks on the next |
|
|
exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Viva Selena Marie Lopez on the occasion of |
|
|
her final season with the Venom Hype Squad and extend to her sincere |
|
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Lopez as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
