R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Ryan Lovell of Tascosa High School in the Amarillo
  Independent School District received the Texas Speech
  Communication Association Teacher of the Year award on October 14,
  2022; and
         WHEREAS, This prestigious honor recognizes teachers who have
  demonstrated excellence in educating students in speech, debate, or
  theater, who have served in both curricular and cocurricular
  activities, and who have made significant contributions to their
  profession; and
         WHEREAS, Ryan Lovell has taught speech and debate classes at
  Tascosa High School for 10 years, and he is the senior baccalaureate
  advisor and University Interscholastic League academic
  coordinator; under his leadership, numerous students have
  qualified for state competitions, and he has been honored with a
  2019 UIL Sponsor Excellence Award as well as the Diamond Award from
  the National Speech & Debate Association; moreover, he has been
  named Tascosa High School Teacher of the Year, and he was a finalist
  for Amarillo ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year; and
         WHEREAS, Highly regarded in his field, Mr. Lovell has served
  as president of the Texas Speech Communication Association and of
  the West Texas Speech Association, and he has held leadership roles
  in other professional organizations, including the Texas Forensic
  Association and UIL; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Lovell holds a bachelor's degree in psychology
  from Brigham Young University, and he earned a juris doctor degree
  from The University of Texas at Austin, as well as a master's degree
  in teaching from West Texas A&M University; and
         WHEREAS, Ryan Lovell exemplifies the passion, determination,
  and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our best teachers,
  and he has set a standard of excellence to which all in his
  profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Ryan Lovell on receiving the
  Teacher of the Year award from the Texas Speech Communication
  Association and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Lovell as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
