R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Oliver Ortiz of Dumas High School achieved great |
|
distinction by winning the silver medal in the boys' 4A 400-meter |
|
dash at the 2023 University Interscholastic League Track & Field |
|
State Meet; and |
|
WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school competitors in |
|
Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on May 11, Mr. Ortiz turned |
|
in a notable performance, claiming second place with a time of 48.10 |
|
seconds; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Ortiz is also a wide receiver for the Dumas High |
|
School football team, and he has signed a letter of intent to play |
|
for the University of Northern Colorado; in recognition of his |
|
accomplishments, he was named the Best All-Around Boy Athlete and |
|
the Track MVP for 2023 by the Dumas Independent School District; and |
|
WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for |
|
high school track and field athletes, Oliver Ortiz has ably |
|
represented his school and community, and he will cherish his |
|
memories of this outstanding accomplishment for years to come; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Oliver Ortiz on his silver-medal |
|
finish in the boys' 4A 400-meter dash at the 2023 UIL Track & Field |
|
State Meet and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Ortiz as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
