R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Kendra Murray of Tascosa High School in Amarillo |
|
|
achieved great distinction by winning the bronze medal in the |
|
|
girls' shot put wheelchair event at the 2023 University |
|
|
Interscholastic League Track & Field State Meet; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school competitors in |
|
|
Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on May 12, Ms. Murray |
|
|
turned in a notable performance; demonstrating tremendous resolve, |
|
|
she delivered her best throw on her final try, clinching a |
|
|
third-place finish with an effort of 16 feet, 0.25 inches; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A senior at Tascosa High, Ms. Murray enjoyed great |
|
|
success during the 2023 season, her inaugural year of competing in |
|
|
the shot put; she became the first student-athlete from the |
|
|
Amarillo Independent School District to participate in the |
|
|
wheelchair division at the state meet and the first to earn a medal; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for |
|
|
high school track and field athletes, Kendra Murray has ably |
|
|
represented her school and community, and she will cherish her |
|
|
memories of this outstanding accomplishment for years to come; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Kendra Murray on her bronze-medal |
|
|
finish in the girls' shot put wheelchair event at the 2023 UIL Track & |
|
|
Field State Meet and extend to her sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Murray as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
