R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Teaching is a profession that calls for character, |
|
passion, and commitment, and Shonte' Leonard has demonstrated these |
|
qualities in abundance throughout her career with the Beaumont |
|
Independent School District; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 2008, Ms. Leonard joined the staff of Clifton J. |
|
Ozen Magnet High School, which is now Beaumont United High School; |
|
over the past 15 years, she has served as a speech communications |
|
and journalism instructor, senior class sponsor, and University |
|
Interscholastic League coordinator; she has further benefited the |
|
district as a member of the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support |
|
System committee; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Leonard has received a number of accolades in |
|
recognition of her work as an educator, including a Campus Teacher |
|
of the Year award and an Outstanding Classroom Teacher Award from |
|
the Beaumont A&M Club, and she was named a Southeast Texas Young |
|
Professionals Organization 40 Under 40 honoree; she is a graduate |
|
of Lamar University, where she earned bachelor's degrees in |
|
corporate communication and family and consumer science as well as |
|
a master's degree in educational leadership; and |
|
WHEREAS, Shonte' Leonard has made a lasting and positive |
|
difference in the lives of countless students in Beaumont ISD, and |
|
she is indeed deserving of special recognition for her outstanding |
|
contributions to Southeast Texas; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Shonte' Leonard for her exemplary |
|
service to the Beaumont Independent School District and extend to |
|
her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important |
|
work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Leonard as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
