R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The 75th annual American GI Forum of Texas State
  Conference is taking place in Corpus Christi from June 19 through
  22, 2023; and
         WHEREAS, Hosted by the AGIF Beatrice T. Perez Robstown
  Women's Chapter, the conference benefits veterans by bringing them
  in contact with local and state elected officials and by providing
  opportunities to network with business leaders and to share
  information on a range of subjects; the conference's Historic
  Grand Luncheon Celebration is honoring the members of the Nueces
  County Commissioners Court as well as Le Roy and Rosie Torres, the
  founders of the Burn Pits 360 organization, who have been nominated
  for the Presidential Medal of Freedom; and
         WHEREAS, The American GI Forum was founded on March 26, 1948,
  by Dr. Hector Perez Garcia, who served as a U.S. Army medical doctor
  during World War II; the largest federally chartered Hispanic
  veterans organization in the U.S., AGIF offers support and services
  to all military veterans and their families, and it plays a
  prominent role in communities across the U.S. and in Puerto Rico;
  chief among its efforts, the organization addresses the
  discrimination and inequities experienced by Hispanic veterans;
  and
         WHEREAS, For seven and a half decades, the members of the
  American GI Forum of Texas have worked tirelessly in behalf of
  former military service members and their loved ones, and the
  organization's contributions are indeed deserving of special
  recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 2023 American GI Forum of Texas
  State Conference and extend to all those in attendance sincere best
  wishes for a meaningful and productive event; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the American GI Forum of Texas as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
