R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Three students of the Fort Bend Independent School
  District earned great distinction with their outstanding
  presentations at the Texas History Day contest, which was held at
  The University of Texas at Austin on April 15, 2023; and
         WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Texas State Historical
  Association, Texas History Day is a yearlong program that offers
  students an opportunity to develop research and critical thinking
  skills while learning more about historical events; individuals
  participating in the program conduct research on a particular topic
  and then present their findings through an exhibit, performance,
  documentary, paper, or website; the theme for the 2023 contest was
  "Frontiers in History: People, Places, Ideas"; and
         WHEREAS, Facing off against regional winners from across the
  state, Alexandra Hamilton and Danielle Burke of Travis High School
  won first place in the senior division group website category with
  their entry titled "A Time for Greatness: JFK's New Frontier and a
  Revitalized America"; throughout the year, they benefited from the
  support of their teacher, David Householder; the pair will travel
  to the University of Maryland at College Park to participate in the
  National History Day competition from June 11 to 15, and they will
  be accompanied by FBISD staff members Matt Lyons, tech integration
  specialist, as well as Jennifer Chadwick, director of
  social-emotional learning & enrichment programs; and
         WHEREAS, Gautham Venkataraman, a student of the Gifted and
  Talented Academy at Quail Valley Middle School, distinguished
  himself by winning first place in the junior division individual
  documentary category with his entry, "Fritz Haber: The Good, The
  Bad, The Ugly"; throughout the year, he has benefited from the
  guidance of his teacher, Lawrence Duvernay; and
         WHEREAS, With their fine showing at the Texas History Day
  competition, these talented young Texans have brought tremendous
  pride to their schools and their communities, and they are indeed
  deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Alexandra Hamilton, Danielle
  Burke, and Gautham Venkataraman on their success at the 2023 Texas
  History Day contest and extend to them sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
  for the students as an expression of high regard by the Texas House
  of Representatives.
