R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Richard F. Garrett were |
|
deeply saddened by his passing on February 24, 2023, at the age of |
|
81; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of William and Mary Rapson Garrett, Dick |
|
Garrett was born in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, on July 4, 1941, and he |
|
grew up with the companionship of two brothers and one sister; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Garrett retired from a long and rewarding career |
|
with ARCO/BP, during which he worked in the U.S. and in various |
|
other countries; he enjoyed reading, traveling, photography, and |
|
spending time with his loved ones; and |
|
WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Garrett took great pride in his |
|
daughters, Sheila and Christina, and with the passing years, he had |
|
the pleasure of welcoming into his family three grandchildren, |
|
Shelby, Emma, and Matthew; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although Dick Garrett will be greatly missed, he has |
|
left his family and friends with a wealth of memories that they will |
|
forever cherish; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Richard F. Garrett |
|
and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |
|
daughters, Sheila Garrett Jenkins and Christina Garrett Guzman and |
|
her husband, Manuel Guzman III; to his grandchildren, Shelby |
|
Jenkins Wilkinson and her husband, Jeffrey Wilkinson, Emma Guzman, |
|
and Matthew Guzman; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dick |
|
Garrett. |
