R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of
  mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Michael and Joan Garcia
  celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on December 23,
  2022; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Michigan, Mike Garcia met native Texan Joan
  Pakan in Brownwood, where they were both employed at Brownwood
  Memorial Hospital; they were joined in matrimony in 1972, and they
  have since been blessed with a treasured family that includes their
  children, Amerika, Rebeka, Lia, and Michal; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Garcia enjoyed a long and rewarding career as an
  agent with State Farm Insurance; he holds a bachelor's degree in
  education from Howard Payne University, and he currently serves on
  its advisory board; Mrs. Garcia graduated from Texas Woman's
  University cum laude with a degree in nursing, and she went on to
  teach nursing at San Antonio College and Southwest Texas Junior
  College; over the years, the couple have traveled to Rome, Paris,
  London, Vienna, Mexico, and the Bahamas; they have also been active
  members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Uvalde, where Mr. Garcia
  serves as head elder; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Garcia have enjoyed five decades of
  abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an
  exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting
  commitment; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Michael and Joan Garcia on their
  50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Garcia as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
