R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of |
|
|
mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Michael and Joan Garcia |
|
|
celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on December 23, |
|
|
2022; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born in Michigan, Mike Garcia met native Texan Joan |
|
|
Pakan in Brownwood, where they were both employed at Brownwood |
|
|
Memorial Hospital; they were joined in matrimony in 1972, and they |
|
|
have since been blessed with a treasured family that includes their |
|
|
children, Amerika, Rebeka, Lia, and Michal; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Garcia enjoyed a long and rewarding career as an |
|
|
agent with State Farm Insurance; he holds a bachelor's degree in |
|
|
education from Howard Payne University, and he currently serves on |
|
|
its advisory board; Mrs. Garcia graduated from Texas Woman's |
|
|
University cum laude with a degree in nursing, and she went on to |
|
|
teach nursing at San Antonio College and Southwest Texas Junior |
|
|
College; over the years, the couple have traveled to Rome, Paris, |
|
|
London, Vienna, Mexico, and the Bahamas; they have also been active |
|
|
members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Uvalde, where Mr. Garcia |
|
|
serves as head elder; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Garcia have enjoyed five decades of |
|
|
abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an |
|
|
exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |
|
|
commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Michael and Joan Garcia on their |
|
|
50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Garcia as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
