R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, On December 10, 2022, Fire Marshal Eleazar Cuevas |
|
was honored for 20 years of dedicated service to the City of |
|
Eagle Pass; and |
|
WHEREAS, First hired by the city in 2002, Mr. Cuevas was |
|
promoted to lieutenant in 2013, and later that year, he attended the |
|
Middle Rio Grande Regional Law Enforcement Academy; he was |
|
appointed a peace officer in 2014, and he went on to join the Fire |
|
Marshal's Office as deputy fire marshal; in 2019, he assumed his |
|
current role as fire marshal; and |
|
WHEREAS, In addition to responding to major fires and |
|
accidents in the area over the years, Mr. Cuevas has played an |
|
instrumental role in investigating and identifying the |
|
perpetrators of several arson fires; moreover, he leads the city's |
|
Fire Prevention Program, which reaches more than 5,000 students in |
|
local schools and daycare centers, as well as community |
|
organizations and residential facilities for seniors; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Cuevas has training in such areas as hazardous |
|
materials, confined space rescue, and swift water rescue, and he |
|
holds a number of professional certifications, including advanced |
|
firefighter, master arson investigator, advanced fire |
|
investigator, intermediate peace officer, and emergency medical |
|
technician; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his dedication, professionalism, and |
|
commitment to excellence, Eleazar Cuevas has earned the lasting |
|
respect and admiration of his colleagues and fellow citizens, and |
|
it is a pleasure to join in recognizing him for his outstanding |
|
record of service; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Fire Marshal Eleazar Cuevas for his 20 |
|
years of service to the City of Eagle Pass and extend to him sincere |
|
best wishes for continued success with his important work; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Cuevas as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
