AN ACT
|
|
relating to formula funding for certain nonresident students |
|
enrolled at Lamar State College--Orange. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 61.059, Education Code, is amended by |
|
adding Subsection (n-1) to read as follows: |
|
(n-1) In the formula applicable to Lamar State |
|
College--Orange for funding instruction and administration, the |
|
board shall include any contact hours taught through distance |
|
education to students enrolled at that college who reside in |
|
another state and: |
|
(1) as permitted by Section 54.231(a), pay tuition at |
|
the rate charged to residents of this state; and |
|
(2) reside in a county or parish in the other state |
|
that is contiguous to the county in which the college is located. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
