A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
| |
|
|
relating to terms for members of the state executive committee of |
|
|
the University Interscholastic League. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 33.083, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsections (e) and (f) to read as follows: |
|
|
(e) Members of the state executive committee of the |
|
|
University Interscholastic League are appointed for staggered |
|
|
three-year terms, with as near as possible to one-third of the |
|
|
members' terms expiring June 30 of each year. |
|
|
(f) A person may not serve more than two terms on the state |
|
|
executive committee of the University Interscholastic League. |
|
|
SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date |
|
|
of this Act, the commissioner of education shall adopt any rules |
|
|
necessary to implement the requirement of staggered three-year |
|
|
terms imposed under Section 38.083(e), Education Code, as added by |
|
|
this Act, for members of the state executive committee of the |
|
|
University Interscholastic League. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
