A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a program to provide housing vouchers to emergency |
|
|
medical services personnel in certain counties. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter K, Chapter 2306, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 2306.2595 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 2306.2595. HOUSING VOUCHER PROGRAM FOR EMERGENCY |
|
|
MEDICAL SERVICES PERSONNEL. (a) In this section, "emergency |
|
|
medical services personnel" has the meaning assigned by Section |
|
|
773.003, Health and Safety Code. |
|
|
(b) The department shall, using available resources, |
|
|
establish a housing voucher program in a county with a population of |
|
|
more than 1 million and less than 1.5 million to provide housing |
|
|
vouchers to emergency medical services personnel. |
|
|
(c) The department shall adopt rules: |
|
|
(1) governing the program's administration; |
|
|
(2) establishing eligibility criteria for a person to |
|
|
receive a housing voucher under the program; |
|
|
(3) establishing a mechanism to determine the amount |
|
|
of a housing voucher provided under the program; and |
|
|
(4) prescribing any other program requirements the |
|
|
department determines necessary. |
|
|
(d) The department may accepts gifts, grants, and donations |
|
|
from any source to establish and operate the program. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
