A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the text of municipal ballot propositions on the |
|
|
issuance of bonds. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 1331, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 1331.003 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 1331.003. BONDS THAT INCREASE TAXES. A ballot |
|
|
proposition to approve bonds issued by a municipality that would |
|
|
add or increase taxes must include the following statement: "THIS |
|
|
IS A TAX INCREASE." |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to an election ordered on or after the effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
