SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 58
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Roddy Osborne
 
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
  meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and
  friends of Carl Roderick Osborne, who passed away on October 10,
  2022, at the age of 86; and
 
         WHEREAS, The son of Tim and Christine Osborne, Roddy
  Osborne was born in Terrell on December 6, 1935, and grew up in
  Gainesville; he attended Texas A&M University on a football
  scholarship, leading the Aggies to the 1956 Southwest Conference
  championship and earning All-SWC honors that season; in 1958, he
  was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the National Football
  League Draft, and he was later inducted into the Texas A&M
  Athletic Hall of Fame; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mr. Osborne served for several years in the U.S.
  Air Force, rising to the rank of captain before his honorable
  discharge; he subsequently coached football at Abilene Christian
  University and Harding University in Arkansas, where he received
  a master's degree in psychology; he also studied child psychology
  as a Ph.D. student at Florida State University; and
 
         WHEREAS, Returning to Gainesville in the 1970s,
  Mr. Osborne joined his father in the family's residential and
  commercial real estate business; in 1980, he traveled with
  Federal Housing Administration representatives to the Middle
  East to meet with Egyptian president Anwar Sadat and other
  government officials about the development of low-cost housing;
  and
 
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Osborne enjoyed the
  love and support of his wife of 25 years, the former Janis Land;
  he took great pride in his 3 children, Kerry, Kevin, and Kathy,
  and his 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; and
 
         WHEREAS, A humble man of faith, Roddy Osborne will be
  deeply missed, and those who held him dear will forever remember
  the warmth and kindness he brought into their lives; now,
  therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Carl Roderick
  Osborne and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of his
  family: to his wife, Janis Osborne; to his children, Kerry
  Osborne and his wife, Veronica, Kevin Osborne and his wife,
  Stacy, and Kathy Hiser and her husband, Tim; to his sister, Karen
  Otts; to the mother of his children, Mary Lou Leftwich; to his
  grandchildren, Jordan, Jacob, Lindsey, Noah, Chandler, Logan,
  Madison, Will, Jesse, Cole, and Clay; to his
  great-grandchildren, Griffin, Olivia, Liam, Brayden, Grace, and
  Emma; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it
  further
 
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
  this day, it do so in memory of Roddy Osborne.
