R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Boaz on the Square in Graham celebrated the 100th |
|
anniversary of its opening in November 2021; and |
|
WHEREAS, Boaz on the Square traces its origins back to 1921, |
|
when P. A. Boaz, a Lebanese immigrant and entrepreneur, founded the |
|
Boaz Department Store; over the years, the business grew to include |
|
seven stores across Texas; and |
|
WHEREAS, Three of the original stores remained active after |
|
the Great Depression, and Mr. Boaz's grandson, Davey Donnell, |
|
eventually took over the business; today, Boaz on the Square sells |
|
apparel, footwear, and accessories both in store and online; and |
|
WHEREAS, Local businesses of long standing play a vital role |
|
in the culture and economy of the Lone Star State, and it is indeed a |
|
pleasure to honor Boaz on the Square for the contributions it has |
|
made to the Graham community over the past century; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of Boaz on the Square and |
|
extend to all those associated with the enterprise sincere best |
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Boaz on the Square as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas Senate. |
