R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Margie Salazar has been named the new chief |
|
executive officer of FirstLight Federal Credit Union in El Paso, |
|
becoming the first woman to lead that institution in its 67-year |
|
history; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Salazar first joined FirstLight, El Paso's |
|
second-largest credit union, as a teller, and over the course of her |
|
25-year career, she has distinguished herself in the roles of vice |
|
president of retail operations, vice president of lending, |
|
executive vice president of operations, and chief retail officer; |
|
she held the title of chief financial officer at the time she was |
|
tapped to serve as the credit union's CEO; when she takes on her new |
|
position on February 1, 2023, she will oversee the operations of a |
|
credit union with approximately 300 employees, 109,000 members, and |
|
$1.5 billion in assets; and |
|
WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan earned her bachelor's degree in |
|
marketing and management from The University of Texas at El Paso; in |
|
addition to her work at FirstLight, she has given back to the El |
|
Paso community through her service as board chair of the local YMCA |
|
and as a member of the advisory council of UTEP's Banking Academy; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Margie Salazar's proven record of leadership makes |
|
her a truly fitting choice to guide FirstLight Federal Credit Union |
|
into the future, and she may indeed reflect with pride on her many |
|
accomplishments as she takes on the challenges and opportunities of |
|
her new position; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby congratulate Margie Salazar on her appointment as CEO of |
|
FirstLight Federal Credit Union and that she be extended sincere |
|
best wishes for a successful tenure; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Salazar as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas Senate. |
