SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 180
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Philanthropist Carla Perry has greatly benefited |
|
|
citizens of Young County through her long record of service to |
|
|
the community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Committed to the health and well-being of her |
|
|
fellow residents, Ms. Perry serves as a director of the Olney |
|
|
Hamilton Hospital Foundation; the charitable organization was |
|
|
founded in 1997 to advance the hospital's mission, and it has |
|
|
since raised $2 million for equipment and items related to |
|
|
patient care; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Perry launched a new organization, the |
|
|
Perry's Foundation, in 2017; sharing wealth and resources to |
|
|
promote the sustainability of the community, it empowers |
|
|
service-driven individuals and groups; the foundation has |
|
|
conferred academic scholarships and made grants to such |
|
|
organizations as Olney Heritage Museum, Olney Enterprise, Olney |
|
|
Community Library, and Lamb's Tale Ministries; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An admired businesswoman, Ms. Perry began her |
|
|
career alongside her husband, the late L. F. Perry; the couple |
|
|
began operating a construction business in the early 1950s, and |
|
|
after relocating to Texas in 1959, they established Perry Ready |
|
|
Mix; their subsequent enterprise, Construction Equipment |
|
|
Manufacturing Company, or CEMCO, has manufactured mobile |
|
|
batching plants and mixing equipment since 1975; Ms. Perry |
|
|
continues to serve as president, overseeing daily operations of |
|
|
the plant; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Carla Perry has made a lasting, positive impact |
|
|
through her unyielding dedication to the betterment of her |
|
|
community, and her wide-ranging contributions have earned the |
|
|
admiration and appreciation of innumerable people; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby honor Carla Perry for her philanthropy and |
|
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in her |
|
|
endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Perry as an expression of high regard from the |
|
|
Texas Senate. |
