R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Promotores and community health workers from across
  the Lone Star State are gathering in Austin on April 14, 2023, for
  the 13th annual Día de la Mujer Latina conference; and
         WHEREAS, A promotores and community health workers
  apprenticeship program, Día de la Mujer Latina was established in
  1997 to eliminate health disparities and promote healthy behaviors
  within the Latino community; active in 39 U.S. states as well as
  Puerto Rico, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic, the organization
  provides access to a wide variety of services, including
  early-detection screenings and preventative care interventions, in
  addition to its certificate training programs for promotores and
  community health workers; and
         WHEREAS, Vital to the communities they serve, promotores work
  tirelessly for preventive care and wellness among the most
  vulnerable and underserved residents in minority populations;
  these dedicated caregivers integrate education about general
  health and the public health care system into a diversity of
  cultures, languages, and value systems, and in so doing, they
  improve access to health care, social services, and insurance
  statewide; moreover, they conduct outreach programs in residences,
  community centers, clinics, and a variety of other venues; and
         WHEREAS, More than a quarter century ago, Texas became the
  first state to pass legislation related to outreach and education
  programs for these essential community health workers, and other
  states have since gone on to follow Texas' example; and
         WHEREAS, Promotores and community health workers play a
  critical role in addressing the needs of a significant portion of
  the population, and they are indeed deserving of recognition for
  their invaluable contributions to the health and vitality of the
  Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
  hereby commemorate the 13th annual Día de la Mujer Latina
  conference and extend to all promotores and community health
  workers in Texas sincere best wishes for continued success with
  their important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Día de la Mujer Latina as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas Senate.
