SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
commemorates the life of Leopoldo Jesus Villa, who died November |
|
8, 2022, at the age of 74; and |
|
WHEREAS, An exemplary citizen and an esteemed Texan, |
|
Leopoldo Villa was born on October 31, 1948, in Aransas Pass; he |
|
was a beloved and highly respected pillar of the Rockport |
|
community as well as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and |
|
great-grandfather; and |
|
WHEREAS, Leo led a distinguished career of nearly five |
|
decades with Texas Parks and Wildlife as a motor vehicle |
|
technician, and he was a devoted public servant who was active in |
|
his community throughout his life; Leo served on the Rockport |
|
City Council for 20 years, led the city as mayor pro tempore for |
|
four years, and served one term on the board of the Aransas County |
|
Independent School District; and |
|
WHEREAS, Leo was respected and admired for his generous |
|
spirit and positive outlook, and his leadership and commitment to |
|
the community helped make Rockport a wonderful place in which to |
|
live and raise a family; his community involvement ranged from |
|
his positions in civic leadership to his roles as a baseball |
|
coach with the Rockport Little League and as a founding member of |
|
the P.O.D.E.R. committee in support of education; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all endeavors, Leo benefited from the love and |
|
support of his beloved wife of 53 years, Josie Villa; he was |
|
blessed with two children, Suzanne and J. D., whom he raised by |
|
loving example; he adored his three grandchildren and his two |
|
great-grandchildren, who were a great source of pride and joy to |
|
him; and |
|
WHEREAS, Leo led a full and rewarding life, and his |
|
strength of character and leadership were a shining example to |
|
those around him; he was a cherished friend to countless people, |
|
and his memory will be forever cherished by all who were |
|
privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Leopoldo Jesus Villa; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Leopoldo Villa. |
