R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Character.org has designated nine campuses of
  Harmony Public Schools as 2023 State Schools of Character; and
         WHEREAS, A national nonprofit organization based in
  Washington, D.C., Character.org was established in 1993 with the
  goal of inspiring, educating, and empowering students to become
  ethical and compassionate citizens; the organization annually
  certifies schools and school districts that demonstrate a dedicated
  focus on achieving that goal; and
         WHEREAS, Harmony Public Schools is a public charter school
  system with campuses serving students in prekindergarten through
  the 12th grade in 23 cities across Texas; its curriculum centers on
  STEM skills, character education, project-based learning, and
  college readiness; and
         WHEREAS, The nine Harmony campuses recognized by
  Character.org as 2023 State Schools of Character are Harmony School
  of Achievement-Houston, Harmony School of Excellence-Laredo,
  Harmony School of Exploration-Houston, Harmony School of Fine Arts &
  Technology-Houston, Harmony School of Innovation-Dallas, Harmony
  School of Science-El Paso, Harmony Science Academy-Dallas High,
  Harmony Science Academy-El Paso, and Harmony Science
  Academy-Houston; of the nearly 130,000 public and private schools
  in the U.S., only 73 earned certification, including only 15 in
  Texas; and
         WHEREAS, 13 other Harmony campuses previously earned the
  honor, which remains with schools for five years after designation;
  among them are Harmony School of Advancement-Houston, Harmony
  School of Excellence-Houston, Harmony School of
  Innovation-Garland, Harmony School of Innovation-Sugar Land,
  Harmony Science Academy-Dallas Middle, Harmony Science
  Academy-Cedar Park, Harmony Science Academy-Pflugerville, Harmony
  School of Innovation-Fort Worth, Harmony Science Academy-Garland,
  Harmony School of Endeavor-Houston, Harmony School of
  Innovation-Houston, Harmony School of Science-Houston, and Harmony
  School of Innovation-Katy; moreover, 37 others were listed as
  emerging character campuses or received honorable mention status;
  and
         WHEREAS, By creating learning environments that promote
  positive values and personal growth, Harmony schools are providing
  their students with important instruction that will serve them well
  throughout their lives; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
  hereby congratulate nine Harmony Public Schools campuses on
  receiving 2023 State Schools of Character designation from
  Character.org and extend to all those associated with the school
  system sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Harmony Public Schools as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas Senate.
