SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 457
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Harmony Science Academy - El Paso and Harmony |
|
|
School of Science in the Harmony Public Schools West Texas |
|
|
District have been named 2023 State Schools of Character by |
|
|
Character.org; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Each year, Character.org certifies schools and |
|
|
school districts that demonstrate a dedicated focus on character |
|
|
development that in turn has a positive effect on academic |
|
|
achievement, student behavior, and school climate; to qualify |
|
|
for the School of Character designation, campuses must implement |
|
|
comprehensive, multiyear character education programs and |
|
|
undergo a rigorous evaluation process; in 2023, only 15 schools |
|
|
in Texas and 73 schools across the nation received Character |
|
|
School honors; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Part of the Harmony Public Schools system, |
|
|
Harmony Science Academy - El Paso and Harmony School of Science |
|
|
are tuition-free, open enrollment charter schools that serve |
|
|
students in the West Texas area; alongside a curriculum focused |
|
|
on science, technology, engineering, and math, both campuses |
|
|
offer character education, which encourages students to develop |
|
|
and practice such traits as integrity, determination, and |
|
|
empathy; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By fostering learning environments that emphasize |
|
|
positive values and personal growth, Harmony Science Academy - El |
|
|
Paso and Harmony School of Science are providing students with |
|
|
important instruction that will serve them well throughout their |
|
|
lives, and each school's commitment to this endeavor is truly |
|
|
commendable; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby congratulate Harmony Science Academy - El |
|
|
Paso and Harmony School of Science on being named 2023 State |
|
|
Schools of Character by Character.org and extend to all those |
|
|
associated with the schools sincere best wishes for the future; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That official copies of this Resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the schools as an expression of high regard from the |
|
|
Texas Senate. |
