R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Youth Empowerment Services, Inc., a nonprofit |
|
organization dedicated to improving education in San Antonio and |
|
throughout the United States, celebrated its 28th anniversary on |
|
January 20, 2023; and |
|
WHEREAS, Founded in San Antonio on January 20, 1995, YES, |
|
Inc., was originally established as a program designed to keep |
|
children and young adults engaged during the summer months; the |
|
summer program eventually evolved into a charter school that |
|
remained in operation for 16 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 2010, YES, Inc., embarked on its current mission |
|
to provide high-quality training to educators, and it has since |
|
focused on helping teachers become more effective so that their |
|
students can improve academically; it has successfully trained more |
|
than 1,000 educators and has been awarded over $100 million in state |
|
and federal grant funds; the organization has consistently provided |
|
employment to residents, recruited numerous teachers to area |
|
schools, and assisted many students by offering additional |
|
educational training and support; in addition, it annually donates |
|
items such as school supplies, blankets, clothing, and food to |
|
various homeless shelters and to holiday events within the |
|
community; and |
|
WHEREAS, For nearly three decades, Youth Empowerment |
|
Services has made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless |
|
educators and students, and it is indeed deserving of recognition; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby commemorate the 28th anniversary of Youth Empowerment |
|
Services, Inc., and extend to all those involved with the |
|
organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for YES, Inc., as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
Senate. |
