R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Eliahna Amyah Garcia of Uvalde |
|
on May 24, 2022, at the age of nine, brought an incalculable loss to |
|
the family and friends of this beloved young girl; and |
|
WHEREAS, Eliahna Garcia was born in Uvalde on June 4, 2012, to |
|
Steven and Jennifer Garcia; her cherished family included her four |
|
sisters, Janelle, Adrianna, Viviana, and Adalyn, as well as her |
|
grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and |
|
WHEREAS, Eliahna, who was affectionately known as "Ellie" to |
|
her loved ones, was blessed with a kind heart and a vibrant, |
|
cheerful spirit; she enjoyed dancing, playing basketball, and |
|
riding her bicycle, and she was an enthusiastic fan of the film |
|
Encanto; moreover, even though it was several years away, she had |
|
already begun planning for her quinceañera party, and she had |
|
dreams of becoming a cheerleader one day; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through the love and laughter she shared, Eliahna |
|
Garcia made the world a brighter place for everyone around her, and |
|
time will never dim their memories of the joy she brought into their |
|
lives; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby pay tribute to the memory of Eliahna Amyah Garcia and extend |
|
deepest condolences to the members of her family: to her parents, |
|
Steven and Jennifer Garcia; to her sisters, Janelle, Adrianna, |
|
Viviana, and Adalyn Garcia; to her grandparents, Rogelio and Nelda |
|
Lugo and Arnulfo and Leticia Arizmendi; to her other relatives and |
|
friends; and to the countless others in Uvalde and beyond who mourn |
|
her passing; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this |
|
day, it do so in memory of Eliahna Amyah Garcia. |
