SENATE RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|
commemorates the life of Elizabeth Anne Trimble Kohler, who died |
|
on January 23, 2023, at the age of 97; and |
|
WHEREAS, Anne Trimble was born on September 4, 1925, in |
|
Fort Worth; in 1938, her family relocated to Austin, where Anne |
|
attended local public schools and graduated from Austin High |
|
School in 1942; a brilliant and determined student, Anne began |
|
her college studies at The University of Texas at Austin at the |
|
age of 16; and |
|
WHEREAS, While attending the university, she met and |
|
married Robert D. Hudson II, and they were blessed with son, |
|
Robert D. Hudson III; Anne returned to complete her studies and |
|
graduated 1947 with a degree in home economics, and she later |
|
earned a master's degree in counseling psychology in 1952; and |
|
WHEREAS, That same year, Anne remarried, and she and her |
|
husband, William Ray Kohler, were blessed with a son, Raymond |
|
Kohler; they enjoyed a rewarding marriage together for nearly a |
|
decade until Bill's death in 1961; Anne began a long and |
|
successful career as a teacher, social worker, and vocational |
|
rehabilitation specialist, in addition to managing her |
|
family-owned rental property and raising her two sons; and |
|
WHEREAS, Anne was an active participant in local and state |
|
politics and a long-time member of the Democratic Party; she |
|
faithfully fulfilled her duties as a precinct judge and served in |
|
the position for several years; she was an avid genealogy |
|
enthusiast and family historian who enjoyed traveling to visit |
|
court houses and cemeteries to trace her family lineages; and |
|
WHEREAS, A strong and devoted mother who was deeply |
|
dedicated to her community as well as her family, Anne raised her |
|
sons by loving example, and she continued her professional career |
|
as an employee of a number of state agencies before retiring from |
|
the Texas Department of Human Resources in 1983; and |
|
WHEREAS, A woman of courage, wisdom, and grace, Anne gave |
|
unselfishly to help others; she was a source of light in the lives |
|
of those who knew her, and her memory will be forever cherished by |
|
her loved ones and by all who were privileged to share in her |
|
life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th |
|
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|
family of Elizabeth Anne Trimble Kohler; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|
memory of Anne Kohler. |
