R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Henry Wesley Woodard of Meadow
  on May 1, 2023, at the age of 18, has brought an unimaginable loss to
  the family and friends of this beloved young man; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Brownfield on July 10, 2004, to Jody and
  Kathryn Woodard, Wes Woodard grew up with the companionship of a
  younger brother, Kyle, with whom he shared a close bond; he moved
  with his family to the Meadow area as a young child, and he was set
  to graduate with the Class of 2023 at Meadow High School; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Woodard distinguished himself through his
  involvement in a multitude of sports, activities, and hobbies; he
  excelled at basketball, track, cross country, and football, and he
  also found time to participate in FFA, stock shows, robotics, and
  the National Honor Society as well as in UIL persuasive speaking and
  one-act play competitions; after graduating, he looked forward to
  attending Texas Tech University and becoming a high school
  basketball coach; and
         WHEREAS, Deeply committed to his faith, Mr. Woodard was
  active in the congregations of both the Brownfield and South Plains
  Churches of Christ; while in high school, he volunteered his time as
  a counselor at the church-sponsored Camp Evergreen, where he
  discovered a passion for mentoring children; he was loved by many in
  his church family, and he endeared himself to numerous friends at
  school and in his community; and
         WHEREAS, Beloved for his sense of humor, his generosity, and
  his optimism, Wes Woodard leaves behind countless people whose
  lives are far richer for having known him, and he will always hold a
  treasured place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
  hereby pay tribute to the memory of Henry Wesley Woodard and extend
  profound sympathy to the members of his family: to his parents, Jody
  and Kathryn Woodard; to his brother, Kyle Woodard; to his
  grandparents, Henry McCulloch Jr. and Judy Woodard; and to his many
  other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Wes Woodard.
