R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Orlie Kenneth Wolfenbarger III is retiring as |
|
superintendent of the Comstock Independent School District in 2023, |
|
drawing to a close an exemplary tenure with the district that has |
|
spanned more than two decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, In 2001, "Buddy" Wolfenbarger began his career with |
|
Comstock ISD as a junior high and high school science teacher, and |
|
in 2003, he started coaching girls' track and field as well as boys' |
|
throwing events; he went on to serve as an assistant principal and |
|
as assistant superintendent before being appointed as |
|
superintendent in 2006; and |
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of Irion County High School in Mertzon, |
|
Mr. Wolfenbarger earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees |
|
from Sul Ross State University, and he also has an associate's |
|
degree in practical theology from Christ For The Nations Institute |
|
in Dallas; furthermore, he holds certificates in biology, composite |
|
science, English as a second language (ESL), and Spanish, as well as |
|
mid-management and superintendent certificates; prior to joining |
|
Comstock ISD, he served for more than a decade as a missionary in |
|
Costa Rica and Nicaragua, where he and his family planted and |
|
pastored churches and helped build elementary schools and medical |
|
clinics; from 2000 to 2001, he taught in an ESL institute; and |
|
WHEREAS, Retirement will afford Mr. Wolfenbarger more time |
|
to spend with his family, which includes his wife, his two sons, and |
|
his granddaughter; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through his leadership, professionalism, and |
|
commitment to excellence, Buddy Wolfenbarger has greatly benefited |
|
the students of Comstock ISD and earned the lasting respect and |
|
admiration of his colleagues, and his contributions to the district |
|
will be remembered and appreciated for years to come; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby congratulate Orlie Kenneth Wolfenbarger III on his |
|
retirement as superintendent of the Comstock Independent School |
|
District and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Wolfenbarger as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas Senate. |
