R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, For more than two decades, retired Sergeant First |
|
Class Lachrishua Jane Walton served her country with great |
|
distinction as a member of the United States Army, and the |
|
observance of Women Veterans Day 2023 provides a fitting |
|
opportunity to pay tribute to her outstanding military career; and |
|
WHEREAS, Sergeant First Class Walton excelled in her |
|
responsibilities during her 21 years in the U.S. Army; answering |
|
the call to duty in a number of major military engagements, she was |
|
deployed to Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, as well |
|
as multiple peacekeeping missions; and |
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of the Hiring Our Heroes program that |
|
connects members of the armed forces community with American |
|
businesses, Sergeant First Class Walton currently works as a health |
|
care navigator for Endeavors and a case manager for Supportive |
|
Services for Veteran Families; in these positions, she has assisted |
|
current and former members of the military in accessing vital care |
|
and resources, and she has played an active role in helping |
|
individuals and families at risk of becoming homeless; she holds a |
|
bachelor's degree in social work and is pursuing a master's degree |
|
in the subject; and |
|
WHEREAS, During her years in uniform, Lachrishua Walton |
|
upheld the highest ideals of our nation's armed forces, |
|
demonstrating exemplary bravery, dedication, and integrity, and |
|
her fellow citizens owe her a lasting debt of gratitude; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature |
|
hereby commend Sergeant First Class (Ret.) Lachrishua Jane Walton |
|
for her military service on the occasion of Women Veterans Day 2023 |
|
and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Sergeant First Class Walton as an expression of high |
|
regard by the Texas Senate. |
