IN RE:
HB166 by González, Mary (relating to policies and procedures regarding certain public school students with disabilities.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Local Government Impact
The bill would require school districts to follow a new process for determining if certain students qualify for the appointment of an educational representative and to appoint such person. LEAs would need to consider validity of the process to certify a student's inability to give informed consent, plus LEA would need to add to operating procedures inviting the educational representative to meetings.
School districts would be required to comply with notification procedures and ensure the appointment of educational representatives for certain adult students with disabilities and would need to provide information about this process to students of a certain age and their parents or legal guardians.
