No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Insurance Code to require health benefit plan coverage for hair prostheses for certain breast cancer patients. The benefit amount for the coverage must be not less than $100 for a hair prosthesis or the repair or replacement of a hair prosthesis. An additional premium may not be charged for the coverage.
Based on the analysis of information from the Employees Retirement System, Teacher Retirement System, Department of Insurance, Health and Human Services Commission, Texas A&M University System Administrative & General Offices, and the University of Texas System Administration, any duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by the agencies utilizing existing resources.
