IN RE:
HB2044 by Bowers (Relating to depression screenings for certain women in county jail or in the custody of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require county jails and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) to conduct periodic depression screenings of certain inmates. According to TDCJ, it is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.
Local Government Impact
The fiscal impact to units of local government cannot be determined because the number of prisoners who would qualify for screenings is unknown.
