Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB4702 by Campos (relating to peer support specialists for certain individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability and peer services for those individuals under Medicaid.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to establish a stakeholder workgroup and rules related to peer support specialists who provide services to individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability. The bill would require HHSC to provide peer support services in Medicaid. According to HHSC, additional full-time equivalent positions would be required to implement the provisions of the bill and there would be client services costs associated with the new benefit. This analysis assumes that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
