LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE, 88TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION
April 12, 2023
TO:
Honorable Brandon Creighton, Chair, Senate Committee on Education
FROM:
Jerry McGinty, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
SB1087 by Schwertner (Relating to authorization and reimbursement for certain examination fee subsidies paid for public school teachers and students.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would allow a student to receive more than one subsidy for an industry-based certification fee and a teacher to receive a subsidy for any certification exam related to career and technology education.
It is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed using existing resources.
Local Government Impact
Districts would need to develop systems to identify teachers who are eligible for certification exam subsidies; however, no significant fiscal impact to local units of government is anticipated.
