Pursuant to a notice posted on July 25, 2024, the House Committee on Agriculture & Livestock met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Cain, at 10:04 a.m.
The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Cain; Anderson; Goodwin; Harris, Cody; Kitzman; and Rosenthal.
A quorum was present.
The chair made opening remarks.

The Committee took invited testimony on the implementation of relevant legislation passed by the 88th Texas Legislature including:
HB 1750, relating to the applicability of certain city requirements to agricultural operations; and
HB 2308, relating to nuisance actions and other actions against agricultural operations.

The Committee took invited testimony on examining foreign ownership of farm-, timber-, and pastureland and agricultural processing facilities in Texas to determine whether Texas industries and supply chains are adequately protected from threats and disruptions and if further safeguards and restrictions on ownership are needed.

At 2:21 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
