A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to librarians employed by public schools. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 33, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 33.025 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 33.025. LIBRARIANS. (a) Each school district and |
|
|
open-enrollment charter school shall ensure that a librarian is |
|
|
present during at least half of each school day at each district or |
|
|
school campus. |
|
|
(b) The commissioner shall adopt rules as necessary to |
|
|
implement this section. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2026-2027 |
|
|
school year. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
