A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the use of parental child safety placements. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter L, Chapter 264, Family Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 264.908 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 264.908. USE OF PARENTAL CHILD SAFETY PLACEMENTS. (a) |
|
Notwithstanding other law, the department shall use a parental |
|
child safety placement in each case in which the department |
|
determines it is appropriate. |
|
(b) If the department determines that a parental child |
|
safety placement is not appropriate, the department shall: |
|
(1) record in writing in the child's case file the |
|
reasons the department determined a parental child safety placement |
|
was not appropriate; and |
|
(2) notify the child's state representative and state |
|
senator about the department's decision and the reasons the |
|
department determined a parental child safety placement was not |
|
appropriate. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
