A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the interpretation of certain laws protecting the free |
|
|
exercise of religion. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 110.009(b), Civil Practice and Remedies |
|
|
Code, is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(b) The protection of religious freedom afforded by this |
|
|
chapter is in addition to the protections provided under federal |
|
|
law and the constitutions of this state and the United States. This |
|
|
chapter may not be construed to affect or interpret Section 4, 5, 6, |
|
|
6-a, or 7, Article I, Texas Constitution. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The amendment by this Act of Section 110.009, |
|
|
Civil Practice and Remedies Code, is intended to clarify rather |
|
|
than change existing law. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
